- this also has the defenders flowing side to to side thus making it easier to run at them.
Step two: Zone iso
-We are going to zone block belly, so that we can get 2 on the nose and still take care of overhang.
-it allows for TWO DOIBLE TEAMS. PSG/PST double 4or 5 tech to PSLBER. C/BSG double the NG to the BSLBER.
Doubles eliminate slanting possibilities and most important the need for cutback etc. Zone is all about vertical displacement and 2 on 1 allows that to happen. We have our FB hug the doubles and push the play vertical all of the time.
Step three: Use of deception.
-we will use no mo belly, but this means there is always a BELLYSWEEP fake happening along with the belly. This places some doubt in the mind of all defenders and the very idea that on one down the DL is being blocked straight on and then another time there are getting blocked down. This is accompanied with a fake to both flanks and FB off tackle. Sometimes he has it and sometimes he does not.
Special notes:
I have noticed that when we have the threat of outside run with the Belly it makes so much more effective of a play and easier to block. Simple defensive evolution was to twist/slant and stunt to defeat man blocking schemes thus the birth of zone blocking schemes. We have done it this way going on 6 years now and this virtually eliminates the fear of defensive stunting.
Good luck
