Default Forum Names

It was raised on a thread about using real names instead on nicknames like a lot of forums do. I have no problem using real names. on the site. What do you think?

I think enough people on here know who everyone is that it really doesn't matter. It's a pretty close community and you have to be looking for something special to get here so I think the discussion is fine. It's not like a local board where coaches are gettin slammed or other football board like when the A-11 guys come on and get balsted. Heck most guys have their name in their signature or use it as their screen name. No need to change IMHO.

Honestly I see no need to change. If someone wants to know who you are they simply need to hit you with a personal message and ask. Its that easy.

Some people like the anonymity I'm sure because they may ask a question like: "hey I'm playing a 44 this week that heavy blitzes the a gaps. What should I run?" They may be paranoid that the opposing coach may look at the answers. Who knows? Seems trivial and petty but, I'm sure it happens.

Me- I'm up for either way. But, as they say, "If it ain't broke why fix it." I love the site and have no problems.

No one, except family, calls me Marcelo. Everyone (even school administrators) call me Metz. In fact, on the phone, if I say, "It's Marcelo" they say, "Who?"
When I say, "It's Metz!" They say, "Oh, why didn't you say so?"
Maybe if they use their real name on the member profile, that would be a good compromise.

Some people also might not want their real name flying around the net. There is a privacy issue involved. Personally I just don't like my name being included in what is posted. I am sure if you are that interested you can PM me and I will tell you, but thats just me. some guys post their phone numbers here for people to call. I don't, as stated before, think there is an issue here where real names will foster any more or any less dialog from coaches.

I wanted to know more about the flexbone offense so I went to the flexbone association website. I registered with my name, as they require, and it was no big deal. I like the screen names on this board, on coachhuey.com, and others, but don't have a problem with using real names.

I would agree with a few of the others - I have no problem with people knowing who I am - you have never heard of me either. I do think you might get better posts with the nicknames, coaches are a paraniod bunch.

There is nothing sacred in the world of football. You can know my playbook, heck I can even give you a copy (if I had one to download ). It comes down to execution, game planning/management and how you coach up you kids. Heck...Bucksweep is in my division..I play him. No worries here about him knowing my name. It's about IMPROVEMENT of the the game and our craft. Paranoid feelings come from KNOWING your outmanned/outgunned and there's nothing you can do about it...even if you played 13 v. 11.
